INTERNATIONAL TIGER DAY 2022: Today the whole world is celebrating International Tiger Day. This day is celebrated with the aim of spreading awareness among the people for the conservation of tigers and to save their extinct species.

This day was started in the year 2010. This year, at the International Conference held in Petersburg, Russia, it was decided to celebrate World Tiger Day on 29 July of every year.

13 countries with tiger population participated in this International Summit. Everyone had set a target of doubling the number of tigers by 2022. India had achieved this target only in 2018. In 2018, the number of tigers in India had exceeded 2967. According to the World Wildlife Fund, the tiger population has declined by about 95 percent in the last 150 years.

Seminars related to conservation of Tigers have been organized on this day. So that more and more awareness is given to the people. Apart from this, donations are also given to those organizations which are working for the protection of tigers.

The government said that in the last three years in India, 329 tigers died due to hunting, natural and unnatural reasons. He also said that 307 elephants died in the same period due to poaching, electrocution, consumption of poisonous substances and train accidents. This information was given by the Union Minister of State for Environment Ashwani Kumar in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha on 26 July.

He told that 96 tigers died in 2019, 106 in 2020 and 127 in 2021. According to Choubey, 68 tigers were killed due to natural reasons, five due to unnatural reasons and 29 tigers were killed by poachers.

According to the data presented in the reply of the minister, the number of poaching cases has come down which has come down from 17 in 2019 to four in 2021.

According to the data, 125 people died in tiger attacks during this period, of which 61 were killed in Maharashtra and 25 in Uttar Pradesh.
