Iran denies links to Salman Rushdie attack

Iran has said it had no role in the attack on Salman Rushdie. Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said during a press conference on Monday that Iran had no role in the attack on the Indian-origin author, according to Islamic news agency Irna.

The Kanaani said Iran could not be blamed for the attack. Meanwhile, reports say that Rushdie has been taken off the ventilator and is in a talking position.

“Regarding the attack against Salman Rushdie in America, we don’t consider anyone deserving reproach, blame or even condemnation, except for (Rushdie) himself and his supporters,” Kanaani said.

“In this regard, no one can blame the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he added. “We believe that the insults made and the support he received was an insult against followers of all religions.”

On the night of August 12, there was a deadly attack on the famous English writer Salman Rushdie. Now the New York State Police has identified the attacker. The 24-year-old assailant is a resident of Fairview. His name is being told as Hadi Matar. At present, the police is investigating the matter in collaboration with the FBI. The reason behind the attack is still not revealed.

This attack took place last night in New York, USA. The author of the controversial book The Satanic Verses and Booker Prize winner Salman Rushdie was being introduced on stage at that time. Then a man came running to the stage and stabbed him. Since the 1980s, Salman Rushdie has been receiving death threats from terrorists.

Salman Rushdie wrote a novel ‘The Satanic Verses’ in 1988, which is based on Islam. It is considered one of the most controversial books to date and has been banned in most countries of the world. He has been a constant target of Islamic terrorism for writing this novel.

A $3 million bounty for killing Rushdie for The Satanic Verses novel. The late Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, issued a fatwa to kill him in 1989. In this fatwa, a reward of 3 million dollars was kept for killing Rushdie, which is still going on today.
