Jacqueline Fernandez's lawyer breaks silence on Nora Fatehi's defamations lawsuit; says 'She has no intention to defame Nora'

Jacqueline Fernandez: Nora Fatehi filed a defamation complaint against Jacqueline Fernandez, stating that the latter made false charges against Nora for "malicious purposes" in an attempt to ruin her career. Both actresses were implicated in the Enforcement Directorate's probe into the extortion case of conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. Both Nora and Jacqueline have been questioned on different times about their suspected participation in the crime and allegations that Sukesh Chandrasekhar gave them costly gifts and favors. However, Nora's decision to sue Jacqueline for defamation shocked many people.

Prashant Patil, Jacqueline's lawyer, indicated that they have yet to receive official mail on the topic. Patil stated, "Jacqueline has not made any public statements about Nora or anybody else in the electronic or print media. She has purposefully avoided discussing the Enforcement Directorate procedures. She has always upheld the integrity of the law, and because the case is still in court, she has always avoided speaking in front of the press and social media. Having said that, we have yet to get an official copy of Nora's lawsuit. We will reply legally if we obtain formal confirmation or an order from the Honourable Court."

Patil insisted that Jacqueline never meant to disparage or insult Nora. "My client has the utmost respect for Nora. There definitely has been some sort of miscommunication," he explained, adding, "Going to quote anybody's reply, filed before an adjusting authority, is a matter of pure judicial proceeding. Any statement made during the course of arguments presented before a judicial proceeding cannot be quoted in the public domain, the way it has been quoted now."
