Ladakh standoff: PM Narendra Modi’s surprise visit.

PM Modi will interact with troops at Leh with CDS Bipin Rawat.

India and China shares about 3,488 km of border, the tension between India and China is escalating after the Chinese government has increased activity along the laddakh border and deployed its army.

Even after high level meetings between Indian Army and Peoples Liberation Army,
India and China got engaged into a violent face off on 15th June night, both countries suffered several casualties, India army lost around 20 of its soldiers. After the clash the armed forces are said to have been given a free hand to assess the situation on the ground along the Line of actual control (LAC).

PM modi today made a surprise visit to Ladakh and briefed by senior officer at a forward position in Nimu. PM will interact with troops, accomplished by chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and army chief General Major Mukund Naravane.


Earlier, on 6th June, meeting at Lieutenant General-level talks were held to end the stand-off at Pangong Tso and a number of other areas in eastern Ladakh. In the over four-and-a-half-hour meeting, Indian had pressed for restoration of status quo and immediate withdrawal of a sizeable number of Chinese troops from all the stand-off points. And a second meeting between 14 Corp Commander Lt. General Harinder Singh and South Xixijiang Military district Cheif Major General Liu Lin, has not resulted in any form of disengagement of military.

Meanwhile President Donald Trump on Thursday waded right in the middle of India’s dispute with China, asserting that Beijing’s aggressive stance in Ladakh fits with the larger pattern of Chinese aggression in other parts of the world and offered to meditate in a “row ranging border dispute” between India and China.
