Lakhimpur Kheri Violence: Interrogation of Ashish Mishra in front of magistrate, Navjot Singh Sidhu ends hunger strike

Ashish Mishra, the main accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, has reached the Crime Branch office. Crime Branch team is interrogating Ashish. Ashish was supposed to appear at 11 am, but he reached the crime branch office about 20 minutes earlier. There were reports of Ashish Mishra absconding. However, Ashish’s lawyer told this morning that Ashish Mishra will appear before the police on time. Ashish’s lawyer had also told that Ashish and Monu are in Lakhimpur. Ashish Mishra is the son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra.

Earlier, describing his son as “innocent”, Ajay Mishra said on Friday that his son is “unwell” and will appear before the police today. Mishra said in a conversation with the media at Lucknow airport, “We have faith in the law. My son is innocent, he got the notice on Thursday but he said that he is not feeling well. He will appear before the police on Saturday and will give a statement and evidence about his innocence. Asked if the opposition was demanding his resignation, he said, “The opposition demands anything”.

In UP, respect is not being given. The law of the land is being trampled upon. The law is being crushed under tyres. The guilty should be punished. Akhilesh said that Ashish was not summoned but a bouquet was sent. Akhilesh said that UP has the highest number of custodial deaths.
