Mahindra Thar to get a new entry level 4X4 variant soon, will compete with Jimny, all we know so far

Mahindra Thar: Currently, there are two major trim lines for the Mahindra Thar: AX(O) and LX, each having one diesel and two petrol engine options. The AX(O) trim may be replaced by a new entry-level 4X4 model from Mahindra, which would be powered by either a 2.2-litre diesel or a 2.0-litre petrol engine. Almost 1 lakh units of the new generation Thar have reportedly been produced by Mahindra & Mahindra in the past 18 months.

Mahindra Thar new variant

According to the leaked paper, the Mahindra Thar’s base 4-wheel drive model will have the lowest pricing. The initial AX model introduced at launch may be brought back by the manufacturer. Only manual transmissions will be available for this variant’s 2.0-litre turbo petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine options. 

Expected Price in India

The new Mahindra Thar 4-wheel drive entry-level variant is expected to cost between Rs 10 and Rs 13 lakh.
