The Maruti Suzuki Jimny is already available for pre-order, and it will be released in India during the quarter of April to June. A 1.5-litre petrol engine (105PS/134Nm) with idle-engine start/stop powers the Jimny. Both a four-speed automatic and a five-speed manual transmission are available. It has a 4WD drivetrain as standard.
The Mahindra Thar's 4WD models come with a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine with 150 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque and a 2.2-litre diesel engine with 130 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are mated to six-speed manual and automatic transmissions. The larger engine, which only has a six-speed manual transmission, is swapped out for a smaller 1.5-litre diesel engine with 118PS/300Nm in the RWD models.
Features
A nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system (from the new Baleno and Brezza) with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, and automatic climate control are included on Jimny's feature list.
The Thar has a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, halogen headlights with LED DRLs, an electrically controlled air conditioner, and steering-mounted controls, among other features. A washable interior floor and removable roof panels have also been added by Mahindra.
Price in India
Maruti might set the price for the Jimny at Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Mahindra Thar currently has an MSRP that ranges from Rs. 9.99 lakh to Rs. 16.29 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India).
