Pakistan government approves political map showing the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh as Pakistani territories

Pakistan government on Tuesday approved a new political map showing the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh as Pakistani territories. The controversial map also shows the erstwhile state of Junagadh in Gujarat and Sir Creek within Pakistan's borders.

Addressing media, Imran Khan termed it a historic day, adding that the new map represents the ambition of Pakistani nationals.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that the new political map will be included in the syllabus of schools.

Qureshi congratulated the incumbent government for unveiling a map of the country, which included Gilgit-Baltistan as well as Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

"Pakistan has made it clear today that we reject India's tactics and that Islamabad is ready for a peaceful solution to the disputed territories — Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir," he said.

The Pakistan Prime Minister, however, added that the resolution of Kashmir dispute only lies in the UN Security Council resolutions. "We believe Kashmir dispute can only be resolved through political means not military," he added.
