Petrol and Diesel Price Update: Petrol Monday, January 02, 2023 remain unchanged in the price of petrol and diesel. A cut in excise duties for petrol and diesel of Rs 8 per litre and Rs 6 per litre, respectively, was announced by Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance minister, on May 21. The Maharashtra government announced a cut in VAT of Rs 5 per litre for petrol and Rs 3 per litre for diesel from July 15.

The price of petrol and diesel is changed every day at 6 in the morning. Value Added Tax (VAT), freight costs, municipal taxes, and other elements all affect how much fuel costs vary from state to state.
Petrol prices are revised daily by Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum, taking into account crude and rupee-to-dollar rates in global markets. Every day at six in the morning, fuel price increases take effect.
