Petrol and Diesel Price Update: In Delhi, Mumbai, and other Indian cities as of Sunday, 1st of January, 2023, the price of petrol and diesel has once again stabilised after more than seven months. On May 21, Nirmala Sitharaman, the finance minister, reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs. 8 per litre and Rs. 6 per litre, respectively. In addition, the Maharashtra government cut the Value-Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel on July 15 by Rs. 5 per litre and Rs. 3 per litre, respectively.

The price of petrol and diesel is updated by fuel retailers such Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) every day at six in the morning in accordance with benchmark prices and exchange rates from other countries. Fuel prices vary from state to state depending on factors including transportation expenses, VAT, and local taxes.
The price of petrol and diesel is changed every morning at six o'clock. Additionally, SMS can be used to access the current petrol and diesel prices. For information, consumers of Indian Oil should transmit their city code and RSP to the number 9224992249, whilst those of BPCL should send their RSP to the number 9223112222. Sending HP Price to the number 9222201122 would notify HPCL customers of the cost.
