The Shradh paksha is going to start soon.In Hinduism Pitru Paksha is considered to be of special importance.The Pitru Paksha is of 16 days. These days we remember the ancestors and they are given shradh and tarpan. It is believed that the Pitru are like deities for Hindus. For this reason, they bless us for doing all kinds of things related to the Pitru during Pitru Paksha. It is believed that the deities are also pleased with us when Pitru is pleased. Not offering ancestors leads to pitra dosh on us. The pitru paksha begins with the full moon date of shukla paksha of the month of Ashwin month. This year, pitru paksha will start from 20th September and end on 6th October.

Importance of Pitru Paksha
Just like the deity, our Pitru, who are no longer on this earth, are considered revered. The period of 16 days starting from Krishna Paksha to Amavasya is called Pitru Paksha i.e. Shradh Paksha. It is believed that on the Shradh side, Pitra Dev arises to meet his relatives on earth and receives food and tarpan from them. Then, at the end of the pitru paksha, they bless the family members and go back to heaven. Shradh and Tarpan are of special importance in pitru paksha.
