Aam Aadmi Party appoints Sandeep Pathak as national general secretary

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday appointed Sandeep Pathak as the national general secretary of the party after the recent Gujarat Assembly election results qualified it for national party status. Pathak was the election in-charge of Punjab and Gujarat. He was sent to the Rajya Sabha on behalf of AAP after Arvind Kejriwal’s party registered a landslide victory in Punjab.

Aam Aadmi Party said in a release, “Aam Aadmi Party has appointed Dr Sandeep Pathak as Rashtriya Sangathan Mahamantri (National General Secretary Organization). He will also be a permanent invitee to the party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC).

Arvind Kejriwal congratulated

Pathak is an assistant professor in the Department of Energy Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. AAP’s national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal congratulated the IIT professor on being appointed as the national general secretary of the party and wished him all the best for his new responsibility.

Kejriwal said in a tweet, “I congratulate Sandeep Pathak and wish him all the best for his new responsibilities. We have to build your organization in every corner of the country.”

The announcement was made ahead of the AAP’s National Council meeting to be held on December 18.

National Council meeting to be held at Delhi’s farmhouse

The meeting is likely to be held at a Delhi farmhouse and could be addressed by AAP’s national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and other senior party leaders. All 10 Rajya Sabha MPs, MLAs and party representatives from Gujarat, Goa, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and other states are also likely to attend the meeting.
