Ashok Gehlot Out Of The Race From Congress President ? Know Briefly Here

After the discord in Rajasthan Congress, the difficulties of CM Ashok Gehlot seem to be increasing. After the rebellion of the pro-Gehlot MLAs, it is believed that there is no general opinion about Ashok Gehlot in the race for Congress President. In such a situation, big leaders of the party like Digvijay Singh, Kamal Nath, Mukul Wasnik, KC Venugopal and Mallikarjun Kharge have come in the race for Congress President. Ashok Gehlot will still wait for the final decision of the central leadership.

Ashok Gehlot is now seen out of the race for Congress President. Digvijay Singh has expressed his desire to contest the presidential election. Kamal Nath has also been called to Delhi. Apart from these, the name of Mukul Wasnik was proposed for the post of chairman in the first G-23 letter of CWC. Congress leader Kamal Nath said that I have no interest in the post of President, had only come to Delhi for Navratri wishes. I am neither enrolling nor going to talk to Gehlot.

Mallikarjun Kharge is the choice of former president Rahul Gandhi and Sushilkumar Shinde is said to be the choice of party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi. These are some of the leaders who can now contest for the post of President. Ashok Gehlot will still wait for the final word from the central leadership.

Why did this situation arise?

This situation has arisen after the revolt of the MLAs of Gehlot camp in Rajasthan regarding the election of Congress President. Earlier, the names of Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and Congress MP Shashi Tharoor were running for the Congress President’s election. Due to the principle of ‘one person-one post’ in the Congress, if CM Ashok Gehlot had become the president of the party, he would have had to resign from the chief minister’s post.

Amidst the discussions of changing the CM, a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party was also called in Jaipur on the previous day. For which Congress had appointed Mallikarjun Kharge and Ajay Maken as observers and in-charges. However this meeting could not take place. It was discussed that Sachin Pilot can be made CM in place of Ashok Gehlot.

The MLAs of the Gehlot camp are not agreeable to the name of Pilot. In protest, more than 80 MLAs submitted their collective resignation to the Speaker. In the midst of all this development, both the observers, Mallikarjun Kharge and Ajay Maken had returned back to Delhi. Today both the leaders have met Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi. Now everyone is waiting for the decision of the party high command.
