Voting is going on for the second phase of assembly elections in West Bengal and Assam today. Today, the fate of the candidates in 30 seats of Bengal and 39 seats of Assam will be decided in the EVM machine. Tight security arrangements have been made for the election. The most discussed is the Nandigram seat in Bengal, from where Mamata Banarjee and Suvendu Adhikari face to face.

As soon as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee arrived at the polling booth in Nandigram, there was a lot of ruckus between the BJP and TMC workers. Additional central force has been deployed on the spot. Section 144 has been imposed.

As of 1.30 pm, 58.15 per cent of the votes have been cast here, while in Assam, only 48.26 per cent votes have been cast.

As the day progresses, the voting speed in Bengal and Assam is also increasing. In Bengal till 12 noon, 37.42 percent voting has been done, while in Assam, 27.45 percent votes have been cast.

Voting is being held in 39 seats in the second phase of the assembly elections in Assam. A total of 345 candidates are trying their luck in this phase election. Of these, 26 are female candidates today's voting will decide the fate of 5 Assam Ministers, Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and some important opposition leaders. The Congress, which is affiliated to the Grand Alliance, is contesting 28 seats, while AIUDF is contesting on 7 and Bodoland People's Front (BPF) in 4 seats.
