Two ministers, an MLA and a former MLA arrested in the Narada sting operation case have been directed by the Calcutta High Court to grant interim bail on Friday. These leaders have been instructed to give private bonds worth two lakh rupees. Currently these leaders are in the house arrest. Today, a five-member large bench of the Calcutta High Court gave this instruction during the hearing.
In the directive, the Calcutta High Court has directed not to interview any leader in the matter. During the hearing of the case on Thursday, the large bench of five judges of the Calcutta High Court deferred the hearing till May 28. On the other hand, the High Court had given permission to the state government to be a party.
On May 17, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested ministers Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee, TMC MLA Madan Mitra and former Kolkata Mayor Shobhan Chatterjee in the Narada sting operation case.
On Tuesday, the CBI was allowed to withdraw its appeal against the Calcutta High Court order. In this, four leaders, including three TMC leaders, were allowed to keep house arrest in the case.
