Congress: Shashi Tharoor was criticised by the Congress today for his claim that there were irregularities in the election for party president. In a decisive victory, Mallikarjun Kharge became the party’s first non-Gandhi president in 24 years.
Yesterday, as the votes were being counted, Mr. Tharoor’s team sent a letter to Madhusudan Mistry, the election coordinator for the Congress, protesting about “very serious anomalies”.

Shashi Tharoor regrets
Even while Mr. Tharoor later expressed regret about the letter’s leak and urged everyone to “move on,” the Congress’ response was incisive.
Madhusudhan Mistry remarked, “I’m sorry to tell that you had one face before me that communicated that you’re satisfied with all our replies and different face in the media that made all these claims against us.”

“In spite of the fact that we complied with your request, you went to the media and claimed that the Central Election Authority was plotting against you,” Mr. Mistry remarked.
