Congress

Congress: On Saturday, the Congress named Pramod Tiwari as its Rajya Sabha deputy leader and Rajani Patil as its Upper House whip. Congress senior leader Jairam Ramesh announced the appointments on Twitter. Pramod Tiwari, a three-time Rajya Sabha member and former Uttar Pradesh minister, was appointed to fill the seat left by Anand Sharma’s retirement in 2022.

Rajani Patil named Congress Whip in Upper House

Tiwari was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2013 following the disqualification of sitting member Rasheed Masood, a three-time senior member of the Rajya Sabha. Patil, a two-time MP who is now suspended from the Rajya Sabha for the whole Budget Session for disorderly behaviour, will fill the position of Congress whip in the Upper House, which has been vacant since Rajeev Satav’s death in May 2021.
