Delhi liquor scam: CBI summons deputy CM Manish Sisodia

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned Delhi Deputy Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia for questioning in connection with the alleged scam in the Excise Policy 2021-22. The investigating agency has called Sisodia for questioning at 11 am on Monday.

Sisodia assured cooperation with the agency

Confirming this, Manish Sisodia himself has spoken of cooperation in the interrogation. It is noteworthy that the Arvind Kejriwal government is accused of corruption in formulating and implementing the excise policy of Delhi.

Following the recommendation of Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, the CBI is investigating the matter. The CBI has made Sisodia an accused in its FIR. FIR was registered in the case on August 17

An FIR was registered by the CBI in this case on August 17. On August 19, raids were conducted on the premises belonging to the accused. In connection with the investigation of the case, Vijay Nair, associated with Aam Aadmi Party and former CEO of event management company Only Much Louder, has been arrested.

The probe agency has also arrested Abhishek Boinpalli from Hyderabad, who is the business partner of Arun Pillai named in the scam.

CBI has interrogated several accused including Indo Spirit owner Sameer Mahendru, Buddy Retail director Amit Arora, India Ahead News KMD Mutha Gautam and others. The initial questioning took place during the raid on August 19.

Sameer Mahendru has been arrested by the ED in this case. The ED is separately probing the money laundering in the scam. The CBI official said that during the August 19 raids, Sisodia was questioned at his house. After the arrest of some of the accused and the interrogation of others, the picture of the scam has become quite clear.

In view of the facts revealed during the interrogation so far, it has been decided to interrogate Sisodia again. Obviously, the statements of other accused and witnesses will also be put forward during their interrogation. A reply will be sought from the Deputy Chief Minister on those statements.

Earlier on Sunday, Manish Sisodia tweeted and said, “I got CBI raid done at my house for 14 hours, nothing came out. Searched my bank locker, nothing came out in it. They didn’t find anything in my village. Now headquarters have asked me to come to the CBI office at 11 o’clock. I will go and give my full cooperation. Satyameva Jayate.
