Delhi Liquor Scam: Manish Sisodia Summoned by CBI for Interrogation

Delhi Liquor Scam: Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has been called in for interrogation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in relation to the Delhi excise policy issue. On October 16, Monday, Sisodia has been requested to appear for interrogation at 11 am.

Manish Sisodia took to twitter after receiving the summon

When Manish Sisodia received the summons, he tweeted, “The CBI conducted 14 hours of raids at my home, but nothing was discovered. Even after searching my bank locker, nothing was discovered. They searched my village but couldn’t locate anything.”

“They have now called me to come to CBI Headquarters tomorrow at 11 am. I’ll go and pledge my whole cooperation. I am Satyamev Jayate “He went on to say.

An accusation of corruption in the Delhi liquor controversy has been made against Manish Sisodia. Leaders of the AAP have criticised the BJP and refuted the accusations. Vinai Kumar Saxena, the lieutenant governor, urged the CBI investigation into the Delhi liquor scandal in July, which led to an impasse between the BJP and the AAP.

The Delhi government was compelled to reverse its alcohol policy and reintroduce private players to the market after a probe was suggested.

The Delhi liquor case is being investigated by both the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The ED conducted raids at more than 25 places earlier this week in connection with the case, and the offices of businessmen who trade in alcohol were also searched.

Additionally, the ED carried out raids at around 35 locations in a few different states, including Punjab, Delhi, and Andhra Pradesh. Abhishek Boinpalli, director of a corporation called Robin Distribution LLP, was detained by the CBI on October 10 because he was reportedly involved in the lobbying of liquor industry figures.
Vijay Nair, the AAP’s director of communications and Sisodia’s close aide, was detained by the CBI in the case last month.

“SECOND FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,” KEJRIWAL COMMENTS

Arvind Kejriwal, the Delhi chief minister, referred to the investigation into the summons of his deputy as a “second war for freedom.” He wrote in a tweet: “After 75 years, the country received an education minister who gave the underprivileged access to quality education and gave them hope for a bright future.”

The AAP has insisted there is no scandal, and the deputy of Arvind Kejriwal has been brought into the matter out of political spite.

Isudan Gadhvi, a leader in the Gujarat AAP, claimed that the BJP is engaging in this game because it is afraid of losing the next elections in Gujarat.

Manish Sisodia is charged by the CBI of making choices regarding the excise policy for 2021–22 without the consent of the appropriate authority with the “intention to offer undue favours to the licensees post tender,” according to the FIR filed in the case.
