Free covid vaccine in Bengal?

Before the assembly elections in West Bengal, a political battle has started on the political level. Political parties are trying to woo their voters, in the meantime, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding free of cost corona vaccine for all people.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has written in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that in view of the increasing cases of elections and corona in the state, all should be vaccinated before the elections. The West Bengal government wants the corona vaccine to be given free of cost to all people.

In a letter to PM Modi, Mamta Banerjee said that the state government wants to buy vaccines for the public in large quantities for free vaccination. In this regard, the center has also requested to help in the purchase independently. She has also sought information from the Center for the purchase of the vaccine.

In a letter written to Modi, Banerjee said that urgent vaccination program is urgently needed for the health and efficiency of all concerned. “We request you to kindly take up this matter with the appropriate authority so that the state government can purchase the vaccine from the designated places on top priority as the West Bengal government wants to give the vaccine free of cost to all people,” the letter said.

Assembly elections to be held in April-May
Elections are to be held in April-May for the 294-member assembly of West Bengal. Till Tuesday, at least 8 lakh health and advance personnel working in the state have been vaccinated. The government has announced that the second phase of the corona vaccination campaign will start from March 1. In this, the vaccine will be given to people above 60 years of age. According to the central government the number of such people is more than 10 crore.
