Delhi Police on Thursday (October 13) detained Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Gujarat (Gujarat) President Gopal Italia from the National Commission for Women (NCW) office. Earlier, AAP workers had protested outside the office of NCW (National Commission for Women) President Rekha Sharma. However, the police released Gopal after keeping him in custody for some time.

After Gopal's release, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that, "Due to heavy pressure from the people of Gujarat, he had to leave Gopal Italia. The people of Gujarat won." Significantly, the NCW had summoned AAP Gujarat chief Gopal Italia on Thursday in connection with a video. In which he was allegedly seen using derogatory language for PM Modi.

The Aam Aadmi Party surrounded the BJP after Gopal Italia was taken into custody by the police. It was tweeted on behalf of AAP that, "BJP arrested Gopal Italia, President of AAP Gujarat out of rage of defeat."

AAP Sanjoyak and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal had also tweeted that, "There is huge anger in the Patel community of entire Gujarat due to the arrest of Gopal Italia."

The chairperson of the National Commission for Women said that I have also told the police that action should be taken against them as they were creating an atmosphere to affect the law and order situation. His supporters tried to forcefully enter the NCW office. She said that I had an important meeting at 2 pm which got delayed because I could not go out of the office. If 100-150 people come and threaten me, what kind of leader are they? He had to come to the NCW office and answer only a few questions. Why did he have to lie and bring in so many lawyers?
