Gupkar Alliance Wins Big In Kashmir, BJP In Jammu

The Gupkar alliance led by Farooq Abdullah has won a resounding victory in the first local body elections in Jammu and Kashmir as it lost its special status last year and was shifted to the union territory. In the District Development Council (DDC) elections for the first time in 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir, a seven-party alliance with Congress has won in 13 districts. The BJP has won six districts of Jammu.

People’s Alliance for Confidential Declaration – A group of mainstream Jammu and Kashmir based parties, including the National Conference of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of opposition parties, Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have won more than 100 seats; The BJP has emerged as the single largest party with 74 seats. The Congress has won 26 seats.
Apart from him, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah said that we did not make these elections a referendum, nor did we campaign more. Still people have supported us, BJP has won a spectacular victory in some identified districts. Where is good news for BJP? A lot of life was lost in these elections from the BJP, in such a result it also showed its effect. BJP has become the largest party, along with the party has got majority in 6 districts out of 10 in Jammu region. The party will make its DDC chairman here. These districts are Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Doda and Resai. On the other hand, the selective results of the Kashmir Valley have given the BJP a chance to smile. The BJP has won 3 seats in the Muslim-majority Kashmir Valley. These seats are Khonmoh-2 of Srinagar, BJP’s Ejaz Hussain has won, Ejaz Ahmed Khan has won in Bandipora while Minha Latif has won from Kakpora in Pulwama.

After winning for the first time in Kashmir, the BJP called it a “wave of change” in the Valley. Its three candidates won their seats against the National Conference and PDP.

Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Jitendra Singh said, “Three BJP candidates have won from Srinagar. This is a testimony that the people of Jammu and Kashmir believe in the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the development of the Union Territory. ”

But Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti said the results made it clear that the people of Jammu and Kashmir rejected the Centre’s decision to abolish special status to Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 in August last year.

Omar Abdullah tweeted, “I understood the temptation to pursue the three seats the BJP has won in the Valley, but outlined the (35 wins / leads of the Gupkar alliance).”

Mehbooba Mufti, former chief minister and vice-president of the People’s Alliance, called it a “hard-won victory”. Mufti tweeted, “Today’s DDC results make it clear that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have voted for @JKPAGD. It thus rejected the unconstitutional decision to repeal Article 370. He has supported @JKPAGD, which stands for the restoration of J & K’s special status. ” “Our victory is dedicated to the PAGD cadre who worked tirelessly to ensure our success. The Government of India left no stone unturned to create obstacles for us. “I started with the arrest of @ parahahid a day after filing my DDC nomination, restricting our movement and not allowing us to campaign,” she said in her tweet.
