UP Police has arrested four other accused involved in the incident of crushing farmers with a car in Lakhimpur Kheri case. These include a BJP leader Sumit Jaiswal, who was allegedly riding in that SUV at the time of the incident. Sumit Jaiswal is a local BJP leader, who in a video was seen running away from a car that crushed farmers under the car. On the contrary, Sumit Jaiswal has lodged an FIR against unknown farmers, in which there is an allegation of beating his driver, friend and two BJP assassins to death. Union Minister Ajay Mishra's son Ashish Mishra is already arrested in this case.
In Lakhimpur Kheri, 4 farmers and a journalist were killed in this incident. Whereas the protesting farmers have been accused of beating the death of three others. The incident took place on October 3 in Lakhimpur Kheri, after which there was anger in the whole country. Apart from Sumit Jaiswal, Shishupal, Nandan Singh Bisht and Satya Prakash Tripathi have been caught by the SWAT team of Lakhimpur Kheri Police and Crime Branch.
Senior police officer Prashant Kumar said that a licensed revolver and three cartridges have also been recovered from Satya Prakash Tripathi. In this case, the UP Police has already arrested Ashish Mishra, son of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni. Several videos of the incident of farmers crushing have been released on social media. In one of these, Sumit Jaiswal was seen running out of the SUV, after which he was identified on the basis of the statements. Sumit argues that amidst heavy stone pelting by the farmers, the car suddenly lost its balance and the farmers were hit by it.

There was a convoy of three cars, including an SUV that crushed the farmers. One of them belonged to the son of Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra. The police have made Ashish Mishra a murderer in the case, who was arrested on October 9 after a 12-hour long interrogation. In the FIR lodged by the aggrieved farmers, it has been said that the minister's son was also in the car which was in the forefront. The Supreme Court had also reprimanded him for the lax attitude of the UP Police in this matter.
On October 3, an FIR was lodged on behalf of the aggrieved farmers in Tikonia police station regarding this incident. Whereas Sumit Jaiswal and others had got the counter FIR done. Sumit had earlier claimed, "We were at the venue and there was an atmosphere of fear everywhere."

Minister's son Ashish Mishra also says that he was not at the spot. He claims that he was in his native village two kilometers away at the time of the incident.
