Lalu Prasad Yadav Convicted In 5th Fodder Scam Case

In the Doranda Treasury case of the country’s famous fodder scam, the CBI court has declared RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav guilty. In this case 75 people including Lalu Yadav have been convicted, while 24 accused have been acquitted. Those convicted will be sentenced on February 21.

As soon as the court’s decision came, there was despair among the RJD leaders and workers present outside. Many leaders and workers started crying. Lalu Yadav’s daughter and MP Misa Bharti was present with him during the hearing and pronouncement of the verdict. Along with Lalu, the verdict has come on 98 other accused in this case today. Lalu Yadav was sitting right in front of the CBI court to hear Judge SK Shashi’s decision. Court proceedings began. First of all the attendance of all the accused was made one by one. The court had asked all of them to be present at the time of the verdict. Most of these accused have crossed the age of 75.

Lalu Yadav had come to Ranchi from Patna on Sunday to hear the verdict coming today regarding illegal withdrawal of Rs 139.35 crore from Doranda treasury in Jharkhand in the much-discussed fodder scam. On reaching Ranchi, the workers gave him a warm welcome at the airport. Lalu had so far been convicted in four out of five cases related to the multi-crore fodder scam. The verdict came today in the fifth case. Lalu had got bail in four fodder scam cases – Deogarh, Chaibasa, Doranda Treasury in Ranchi and Dumka case.

Between 1990 and 95, when Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Chief Minister, there was an illegal withdrawal of 950 crores in the name of animal feed from the state exchequer of Bihar. This was exposed in 1996 and as the investigation progressed, Lalu Prasad came under fire. Lalu Prasad Yadav was made an accused in five cases of fodder scam in Jharkhand.

The court’s decision has come in four of these cases. In all these cases, the court found him guilty and sentenced him. The verdict in the biggest and fifth case of fodder scam is going to come today. This case is related to illegal withdrawal of Rs 139 crore from Doranda Treasury in Ranchi. Initially, a total of 170 people were accused in this case, out of which 55 accused have died so far. While seven accused became government witnesses in this case. 6 accused in this case are still out of the grip of law. Today the CBI court gave its verdict on 99 accused in the case.
