Mallikarjun Kharge Is Latest Contender For Congress Chief Post

The Congress President’s election is taking a T20 cricket match-like approach, where the picture seems to be changing with every over. After Ashok Gehlot was out of the race for the post of President, Digvijay Singh’s name was being considered fixed for this. But now Mallikarjun Kharge has also entered in this match. Not only this, it is being said that now consent can be made in his name only. Digvijay Singh has met Mallikarjun Kharge and he may take a decision not to file nomination. In such a situation, the direct contest for the post of president will be between Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor.

It is clear that Shashi Tharoor is considered the leader of the rebel G-23, while Mallikarjun Kharge is a loyalist of the Gandhi family. After the rebellious attitude of Ashok Gehlot, now he can emerge as the choice of Gandhi family and party. He hails from South India, where the party is trying to establish a strong foothold. Apart from this, he has also been beyond controversies, while Digvijay Singh has been in the news due to his statements. The name of Mallikarjun Kharge has suddenly come in the race for the post of President, but it is clear from the developments in the Congress that he can win.

Congress general secretary KC Venugopal had also said on Thursday that a decision on the post of president would be taken by Friday evening. It was clear from his statement that anything can change till the last round. Digvijay Singh himself took the nomination paper and said that by tomorrow it will be decided whether my nomination will be done or not. Now Digvijay Singh’s meeting with Mallikarjun Kharge has made it clear that he can withdraw from the race. Meanwhile, big changes are expected in Rajasthan too. A meeting of the legislature party can be held anytime after the post of Speaker and a resolution can be passed regarding the new CM.
