Modi Cabinet Reshuffle: Debashree Choudhury and Babul Supriyo resigns

Speculation has intensified regarding the expansion of PM Narendra Modi’s cabinet. Modi cabinet will be expanded at 6 pm today. Raiganj MP from West Bengal and Union Women and Child Welfare Minister Debashree Choudhury is believed to be on leave, while MPs Shantanu Thakur and Nishith Pramanik are said to be the frontrunners in the race.

Along with this, BJP MP from Asansol and Union Minister of State Babul Supriyo has also been discharged.

BJP has 18 MPs in West Bengal. If Debashree Choudhary and Asansol MP Babul Supriyo, Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises in the Union Council of Ministers, were the only two ministers from Bengal. Both have been discharged from ministerial posts.

Raiganj MP Debashree Choudhary, who is the Minister of State for Women and Child Welfare, has been directed to resign from the cabinet. She has been instructed to work for the party and the organisation.

In the recent assembly elections, the performance of BJP in Raiganj area was not good. Devshree Chaudhary has been associated with the party organization for a long time. The party wants to use them to strengthen the organization.

On the other hand, BJP MP from Bangaon, Shantanu Thakur is believed to be a minister. A large section of the refugee Matua, who were assured of citizenship, are now BJG supporters. He has also supported the ruling party of the Center in the assembly elections. Many political observers believe that Shantanu Thakur, one of the faces of the Matua Sangh, may be made a minister in future to retain the Matua vote. There is also a discussion about Dinesh Trivedi and Locket Chatterjee.

According to BJP sources, five names are being discussed at the top level of the party. Nishith Pramanik, Jagannath Sarkar had won the assembly vote, but was not sworn in as an MLA on the instructions of the party. BJP sources say that he may be included in the cabinet as a reward for his loyalty to the party.
