On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Rajya Sabha amidst the heat of the farmers' agitation against agricultural laws. In his address, PM Modi surrounded the opposition fiercely, but at the same time made a special appeal to the agitating farmers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that "MSP tha, MSP hai aur MSP rahega", farmers should end the agitation. 'MSP tha, hai and rahega …' On the issue of agricultural laws, PM Modi said that only movement was discussed in the House Yes, reforms were not discussed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that even when Lal Bahadur Shastri ji had to do agricultural reforms, he still had to face difficulties. But he did not back down. At that time, the Left used to call Congress an agent of America, today they are abusing me. PM said that any law has come, reforms happen after some time.
PM Modi appealed and said that we have to move forward by explaining to the agitators, let the abuses go to my account but reforms should happen. PM Modi said that the elders are sitting in the agitation, they should go home. End the movement and keep the discussion moving forward. Continuous talk is being done with farmers. PM Modi assured the farmers that MSP is, was and will remain. Mandis are being strengthened. The 80 crore people who are given ration in the winter will also continue. Scope to opposition on agricultural laws Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his address that many Congress leaders including former Union Minister Sharad Pawar have also talked about agricultural reforms. Sharad Pawar still did not oppose the reforms, we did what he liked and will continue to improve.
PM Modi said that today the opposition is making a U-turn, because politics dominates. PM Modi read Manmohan's statement PM Modi read the statement of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the House, 'Our thinking is that what is hindering in bringing big market, our effort is to allow the farmer to sell the produce'. PM Modi said that what Manmohan Singh said, Modi has to do, please be proud. He added that milk workers, animal husbandry and successful workers have an open exemption. But farmers do not have this exemption. The agitation of the farmers was continuously created by the opposition. However, the issue of farmers was discussed by extending the time in the President's address itself.
The government has already talked to the farmers many times before, although the talks have stopped. But now after PM Modi's statement, hope is raised once again.
Regardless of the cold and hunger and thirst, the farmer of the country has been on the streets for more than 2 months.
During this time, the peasant movement has also taken violent forms. One thing is coming out repeatedly in the farmers agitation and that is the minimum support price of crops i.e. MSP. Farmers say that the government's intention is to end the minimum support price system behind the three new farm laws that the government has recently enacted.
However, the government is repeatedly reiterating that the new laws will not make any difference to the existing system, but the farmers will in turn benefit. The MSP system will run as before.
