There is news of reconciliation between the farmers and the administration in the case of violence in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. The families of the deceased farmers will get Rs 45-45 lakh. Significantly, eight people, including four farmers, were killed in the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday. Leaders of all major opposition parties who tried to go to the spot on Monday were either stopped or taken into custody.
Violence broke out when a group of protesting farmers tried to stop Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra and UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya in Tikonia. The protesting farmers were extremely upset over a recent speech by Union Minister Mishra.The farmers claim that the violence broke out after a car in the minister’s convoy ran over the protesters. In the video that emerged from the spot, arson and several vehicles can be seen setting ablaze. Eight people, including four farmers, have lost their lives in this incident of violence.
