Before the assembly elections in Kerala, the Congress has suffered a major setback. Senior party leader and confidant of the Gandhi family, PC Chacko has resigned. Chacko announced his resignation on Wednesday. According to news agency ANI, Chacko has sent his resignation to the party's interim president Sonia Gandhi. Chacko said that the Congress party in Kerala is divided into two factions. He said that he is tired of requesting the high command to interfere. Chacko said that whatever is happening in Kerala Congress, the high command is watching it quietly. Chacko is the same leader who raised the issue about two years ago by calling the Gandhi family the 'first family in the country'. He was then severely criticized for this and the BJP accused him of sycophancy of the Gandhi family.
Chacko said, "I come from Kerala where there is no party like Congress. There are two parties - Congress (I) and Congress (A). Two parties have a Coordination Committee which is acting like KPCC. Kerala One The key is on the election front. People want the return of the Congress but the top leaders are engaged in factionalism. I have told the high command that all this should come to an end but the high command is also agreeing with the proposals of both the groups. "
Chacko seems disenchanted with the Gandhi family. Till two years ago, he was describing them as 'India's first family'. Chacko then said that "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a negative opinion about India's first family. He is truly India's first family. India is grateful to him … India is what it is today, the plan and leadership of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru is due to." Then Union Minister Prakash Javadekar condemned Chacko's statement about the Gandhi family, calling it a symbol of the culture of sycophancy.
Chacko also targeted senior Congress party leaders in Kerala, Ramesh Chennithala and Oman Chandi. He said that both the leaders always divide the seats and the organization after each other. He said that in Kerala only the future of those leaders who are part of any of these groups, the others are always sidelined.
"There is an important election in Kerala," he said. People want the Congress party to come back, but there is a camp among the top leaders of the party here. I have been telling the High Command that this should be stopped, but the high command also agrees with the proposals given by these groups. ''
