Akhilesh Yadav: The head of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, has made a strong accusation in a statement that there is a major plot by the BJP to weaken the democratic foundation of the country. He alleges that the ruling party is using the UPSC as a back door to subtly place its ideological loyalists in positions of power within the government. Yadav cautions that this action jeopardises not only the prospects of the incumbent officers but also the goals of the young people aiming for higher positions. He has urged people across the country to band together in protest to this purported conspiracy, emphasising the necessity of a national movement that will begin on October 2.
Akhilesh Yadav Alleges BJP’s Conspiracy Against Merit and Reservation
According to Akhilesh Yadav, the quota system and the rights of marginalised communities—particularly the PDA, which is a collective word for backward classes, Dalits, and other marginalised groups—are being directly attacked by the BJP’s efforts. He remarked, “Daraasal, saari chaal PDA se aarakshan aur unke adhikaar chheenne ki hai.” He claims that the BJP is currently attempting to get around reservation by actively seeking out people who share its beliefs, conscious that these groups of people are becoming more and more opposed to its policies. He claims that as a result, the general public will only be able to access lower-level jobs like clerks and peons, not the highest echelons of government.
The Threat to National Interest
Yadav has urged the BJP government to immediately withdraw this alleged strategy, arguing that it is not in the national interest. He believes that placing ideologically aligned individuals in key government roles would lead to biased governance, where officials, owing their positions to the government, would lack impartiality. Such a scenario, he warns, would erode the integrity of the civil services and ultimately harm the nation.
Call for Nationwide Movement
Akhilesh Yadav has called on government officials and young people nationwide to join him in a nationwide demonstration that would begin on October 2nd in response to this perceived danger. He calls on the public to oppose what he sees as a corporate takeover of the political apparatus, motivated by the capitalist principle that profit comes before people. Akhilesh Yadav compares this to the socialist theory of his party, which places a higher priority on the welfare of small business owners, labourers, farmers, and the impoverished.
