PM Modi hand over the first indigenous tank "Arjun" to MM Narawane

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday handed over the first indigenous tank, 'Arjun', to Army Chief General MM Narwane. Arjun has been prepared by DRDO's Chennai-based Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (AVRDE) lab. Now, the Ordnance Factory Board, ie OFB's Chennai based heavy vehicles factory in Avadi, will manufacture them in bulk-production. A total deal of 118 tanks has been done for about eight and a half thousand (8500) crores.

After the launch of the plans in Tamil Nadu, PM Modi said, 'Today we are starting an e-infrastructure project from Chennai, these projects are symbols of innovation and indigenous development. This will lead to further development of Tamil Nadu '. He said that Chennai Metro is developing rapidly, in this year's budget, more than Rs 63,000 crore has been allocated for the second phase of this project.

PM Modi said, 'I am proud to hand over the indigenously designed and built Arjun Main Battle Tank (MK-1A). It also uses indigenous ammunition. Tamil Nadu is already the automobile manufacturing hub of India, now I see Tamil Nadu developing as a tank manufacturing hub of India. '
