It is a health insurance scheme for union territories. The department has described it as a historic moment for the state. The department wrote on its official Twitter handle, 'It is a historic moment for Jammu and Kashmir. Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to launch SEHAT. Social Endeavor for Health and Telemedicine Health Insurance Scheme for entire Jammu and Kashmir on 26 December 2020.
Lt. Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha said that all the people living in the Union Territory will get free health cover up to 5 lakhs. He wrote, 'It is a historic moment for Jammu and Kashmir. Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch PMJAY-SEHAT on 26 December 2020. All residents of Jammu and Kashmir will get free cashless cover up to Rs 5 lakh. At the same time, about 15 lakh more will be available for additional families for operational expansion. This scheme will work with PM-JAY in insurance mode. The benefit of this scheme will be available in the entire country. Also, the facilities of this scheme will be available in all the hospitals brought under PM-JAY scheme.
