Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot says 50% rape are fake

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has given a strange argument regarding the increasing cases of rape cases. Speaking to the media on Friday, Gehlot said that 56 percent of the registered cases of crimes against women are false. He further said that an attempt is being made to defame Rajasthan by mis-analyzing the data of NCRB.

Gehlot said that our opposition spreads rumors that rapes are happening and crimes have increased. Ask them to read a paragraph of the NCRB report. It says that every state has different positions and perspectives. Crime is under control here. Gehlot further said who rapes? Most of the perpetrators are relatives, acquaintances and family of the girl. False figures are given in 56% of cases of crimes against women. We have started action. Those who file false cases should not be spared so that they do not dare to defame the state government and the police.

The Chief Minister said that Rajasthan Police is doing a good job. Crime is very less here as compared to other states. Earlier people were brought back from the police stations. FIRs were not registered, people did not enter police stations for fear of slander. We have rectified that situation.

The Chief Minister said that despite the policy of compulsory registration of FIRs in Rajasthan, about 5 percent crime has decreased in 2021 as compared to 2019. Whereas more crimes have been registered in 17 states and union territories including MP, Haryana, Gujarat and Uttarakhand. There has been an increase of about 69 percent in crimes in Gujarat, 24% in Haryana and 20 percent in MP. Uttar Pradesh is at the fore in murder, crime against women and kidnapping. The conviction rate in Rajasthan in rape cases is about 48 percent. Whereas at the national level it is only 28.6 percent. In cases of atrocities against women, the conviction rate in Rajasthan is 45.2 percent.
