The process of nomination for the Congress President's election has started from Saturday. The authorized representatives of senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor have reached the office of the Congress Central Election Authority to collect the nomination papers.

According to the information, Shashi Tharoor has also demanded to give five sets of nomination papers in his request letter for the post of Congress President.
The names of Congress leaders Shashi Tharoor and Ashok Gehlot are running in the forefront of this election, whose election is believed to be fixed, while after many years in the election for the post of Congress President, it is happening that the Gandhi family is not standing in this election.

While two names were coming up for the post of Congress President so far, two other Congress leaders have also come to collect the nomination papers and both claim that they have 10 proposers.

Among them, the first is Vinod Saathi from Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh and the second is Laxmikant Sharma from Mandi in Himachal, although he has not been given his nomination papers yet.

In fact, the notification for the election of the President has been issued on 22nd September. Now the process of filing the form will start from today which will continue till September 30. That is, whoever wants to contest the election for the post of president, he can file the form. The Central Election Authority, headed by senior party leader Madhusudan Mistry, will oversee the voting.

The last date for withdrawal of nominations has been kept as October 8. Voting will take place on October 17, while the election results will be declared on October 19. Voting will take place only when two candidates are in the fray. If there is only one candidate, then he will be elected unopposed.

Senior Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Saturday said party leaders should refrain from commenting about candidates contesting for the post of party president. He said this at a time when party spokesperson Gaurav Vallabh had openly supported Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in the election for the post of president and targeted Lok Sabha member Shashi Tharoor.

After Vallabh's statement, party general secretary Jairam Ramesh had advised that all spokespersons should refrain from remarks regarding candidates. Singhvi tweeted, "Totally agree with Jairam Ramesh. Congress colleagues should refrain from commenting on those contesting for the post of party president. We must uphold the democratic freedom of expression with a fair mind. The party has always advocated this."
