Party chief and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday unfurled the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) flag, marking the formal launch of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in national politics. The Election Commission has approved the new name of TRS as BRS.

Rao unfurled the BRS flag at the party headquarters here. Earlier, he signed the document related to the name change of TRS as BRS.

Former Chief Minister of Karnataka HD Kumaraswamy, popular actor Prakash Raj and several BRS leaders were present on the occasion.

Rao is also known as KCR. Rao received information from the Election Commission on Thursday that the new name of TRS has been approved as BRS.

TRS changed its name to BRS in October to increase interference in electoral politics outside Telangana. Rao founded TRS in the year 2001 to fight for the demand of formation of Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh.
