Union Home Minister Amit Shah Sets Ambitious Target, Says ‘Give NDA 25+ seats in Tamil Nadu’

Amit Shah

Amit Shah: During a rally in the state’s Vellore on Sunday, Union Home Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader said that at least 25 National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders from Tamil Nadu should be elected to Parliament in the upcoming 2024 general election. He also expressed confidence that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would win a third consecutive term at the Centre.

Union Home Minister Urges Tamil Nadu to Back Narendra Modi in 2024

He argued that Tamil Nadu need to support Narendra Modi in 2024 by giving the NDA more than 25 seats. Additionally, he attacked the state’s Congress-Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) coalition, charging it with corruption and nepotism. The 2G, 3G, and 4G parties are Congress and DMK. I’m not referring to the 2G hoax regarding spectrum allotment. According to him, “2G denotes two generations, 3G denotes three generations, and 4G denotes four generations.” Shah met with party members earlier in the day from the Chennai south area and stated that the work done by state BJP president K Annamalai “gives him confidence” that the party can win more than 25 seats in Tamil Nadu and select residents of the state as central ministers.

DMK Dominance and AIADMK’s Lone Victory in Tamil Nadu

There are 39 Lok Sabha seats in Tamil Nadu, plus one for Puducherry. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the DMK coalition easily won 38 seats. The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), a member of the NDA and the DMK’s main rival in the state, won just one seat, the alliance’s lone victory. As part of the BJP’s month-long campaign to honour nine years of the Modi administration at the Centre, Shah arrived in Chennai on Saturday night. The BJP accused the state’s DMK administration of security failures after street lights went off near the Chennai airport after the home minister landed and was on his way to his hotel in Guindy. His arrival instantly sparked a dispute. Despite the fact that Shah made no mention of the incident during the rally, a BJP leader who wished to remain unnamed claimed that Annamalai and he spoke about it at the meeting in Chennai South. The street lights were turned out on purpose, according to Shah, but he encouraged us not to worry about it, according to a BJP senior who attended the Chennai meeting and was at the airport. The guy continued, “He talked to us about making booth committees stronger.

Analyzing Tamil Nadu’s Receipts under UPA and Modi Government

“Tamil Nadu received $95,000 crore from the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) from 2004 to 2014, but the Modi-led Union government has given the state $2,47,000 crore over the last nine years,” he claimed. Shah also listed more than a dozen major initiatives and grants being carried out in Tamil Nadu, including two Vande Bharat Express trains, a new airport terminal in Chennai, the completion of 2,352 km of national highway, and the ongoing construction of an additional 3,719 km of highway at a cost of 58,000 crore. “The Congress-DMK ruled Tamil Nadu for ten years. Their government engaged in $12,000 crore worth of scams and corruption. But in nine years, not a single claim of corruption was made against Modi ji’s administration. India’s standing in the eyes of the world has been improved and increased by our government,” he claimed.

DMK Spokesperson Challenges Shah’s Strategies in Tamil Nadu

A Saravanan, a DMK spokesperson, retaliated against the home minister and claimed that Shah’s strategies “which worked in his home town in Gujarat will not work in Tamil Nadu”. “We already have a number of medical schools that can compete with AIIMS. But BJP has to explain why they are unable to finish it,” said Saravanan, referring to the institute branch that was opened four years ago but on which work has not advanced.
