The Gorakhpur Purvanchal Link Motorway is upcoming in a major drive to improve infrastructure and regional development by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Planned to link Gorakhpur with the Purvanchal Motorway, the project is a component of the larger plan of Uttar Pradesh to improve its connectivity and travel time and facilitate economic development in the eastern region of the state.
Strategic Route Connecting Eastern UP
The Gorakhpur Purvanchal Link Motorway will be over 91 km long and connect Gorakhpur, a city in eastern Uttar Pradesh and one of the major cities in the state, to the currently operational Purvanchal Motorway. This new motorway, when completed, will provide smooth, high-speed road connectivity between Gorakhpur and Lucknow and to Delhi via other motorway interconnections.
The executing agency of this project is the Uttar Pradesh Motorways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), which has been dealing with other motorways of the state as well. The motorway construction consists of a four-lane (expandable to six lanes in the future) standard to guarantee long utility value and capacity.
Economic and Social Impact
Other than enhancing connectivity, the motorway will promote trade in the region, tourism, and investment. It will equally save a lot of travelling time and transportation expenses for both goods and passengers. It is envisaged that industrial clusters and logistics hubs will develop along this corridor, especially in places like Ambedkar Nagar, Azamgarh, and Gorakhpur, providing employment to local people and leading to increased employment.
Faster and easier connection to urban areas will also provide healthcare access and emergency services, as well as educational outreach in rural areas.
Government’s Vision for Infrastructure Growth
Infrastructure is the backbone of development, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has repeatedly stressed that this motorway will be a life-changing move towards the development of Purvanchal. They are carrying out regular inspections and monitoring so as to make sure the project is on schedule and will be delivered on time.
With work in its final phases, both locals and interested parties are hopeful of the new opportunities that the motorway will present to Eastern UP.
As the Gorakhpur Purvanchal Link Motorway is set to be completed soon, Uttar Pradesh is still on the road to becoming one of the leaders in road infrastructure in the country.
