'Modi Doesn’t Need BJP, BJP Needs Modi,' BJP MP Nishikant Dubey Sparks Debate Yet Again

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey’s bold comment, “Today, BJP needs Modi; he doesn’t need the BJP,” ahead of his interview, has stirred the political discourse across party lines.

In a bold and unheard-of statement, at least on such a scale, Nishikant Dubey, MP of the BJP, has declared that today the BJP requires Modi but not the other way round. This has brought the party and political scholars to argue since the statement was made in a promo for his episode that airs on an upcoming show on EP-327, which will air at 5 PM IST.

Dubey further added that in the absence of Narendra Modi as the leader, it is also possible that the Bharatiya Janata Party may not even rise above the 150 marks in terms of its performance in the elections. This statement highlights the fact that Modi is the key figure in the party and positions the prime minister as the epicentre of the election policies of the BJP.

Modi as the Vote Magnet of the BJP

As Dubey points out, Modi not only fronts for the party but is also its engine. He made it clear that the political success of the BJP is closely connected with the image and bearing of Modi and his mass appeal. This is a statement that gives more credence to the statement that the leadership of Modi has injected a brand into a brand that is so strong that it even outweighs the ideology of this party.

It sounds like a compliment to the unsurpassed popularity of Modi, but also a de facto criticism of how the party relies on such charisma. Opposing political activists have cried foul, accusing this kind of hero-worship of being a sign of killing democracy within the party.

Reaction Ahead of Interview Release

This might be an interesting time to state what Dubey did, since it was only a day before his full interview was to be published officially. The video posted by ANI has already acquired viral status, and the feedback on social media is diverse. His openness is praised by the advocates but criticised by others who say that the quote draws attention to an unhealthy dependence on one individual.
