Acting swiftly on intelligence inputs, the Amritsar Rural Police have recovered two more hand grenades from Harpreet Singh alias Happy alias Milkha, a resident of Tarn Taran — taking the total recovery in the case to four hand grenades.

According to preliminary investigations, the accused was in direct contact with Pakistan’s ISI handlers and had received the consignment through cross-border channels. Officials suspect that the grenades were meant to be used for carrying out disruptive activities in border districts, particularly to create unrest ahead of the festive season.
A case has been registered at Police Station Gharinda, Amritsar, and further investigations are underway to trace and dismantle the entire terror network. Sources said the police are also probing possible local facilitators and sleeper cells operating in coordination with foreign handlers.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann praised the Punjab Police for their prompt and effective action, calling it a strong message to anti-national elements. “The state government will not allow anyone to disturb Punjab’s peace and communal harmony. We stand firm against terrorism and organized crime,” he stated.
The Punjab Police, under the leadership of DGP Gaurav Yadav, reiterated its unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order across the state. “Our teams are continuously working to identify cross-border supply routes and terror modules operating in the region. The crackdown on such elements will continue with full intensity,” said the DGP.
The recovery highlights Punjab Police’s proactive approach in strengthening intelligence coordination and border surveillance. The force has been conducting consistent anti-terror operations in sensitive zones, ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
