The Bhagwant Mann–led Punjab government has put in place robust arrangements for the smooth procurement of paddy during the current season. With the arrival of paddy already underway in mandis across the state, the government has assured farmers of a transparent and hassle-free procurement process.
Minister Reviews Arrangements in Dhariwal
Cabinet Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak recently visited the Dhariwal mandi to personally review the facilities and arrangements. He interacted with farmers and commission agents to ensure that all procurement-related processes were running efficiently.
Timely Payments Within 24 Hours
A key highlight of the government’s initiative is the assurance of payment to farmers within 24 hours of the crop being purchased. This step is expected to ease financial stress for farmers and strengthen their trust in the procurement system.
Farmer-Centric Reforms
The Mann government has also directed officials to ensure proper facilities in mandis, including adequate storage, drinking water, sanitation, and smooth transportation arrangements. The emphasis remains on making procurement farmer-friendly and corruption-free.
Government’s Commitment
Reiterating his government’s commitment, CM Bhagwant Mann said that every grain of farmers’ hard work will be purchased at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), and no farmer will face delays or inconvenience during the process.
