Punjab News: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated 30 new Aam Aadmi Clinics in Chouke village, Bathinda, today. This marks another step in the state’s ongoing ‘health revolution,’ as the government aims to make healthcare more accessible. CM Mann emphasized that earlier people had to travel 25 kilometers for medicines, but now, with the establishment of these clinics, healthcare services will be much closer to home.
Water Infrastructure Improvements on the Horizon
The Chief Minister also hinted at upcoming developments related to water infrastructure. He mentioned that previously, water supply was limited to a 10-kilometer radius, but the government plans to extend canal coverage to 15 kilometers.
Appeal to Youth for Panchayat Elections
Addressing the youth, CM Mann urged them to actively participate in the upcoming Panchayat elections in Punjab. He explained that the elections would feature direct voting for Sarpanches, with separate elections for other members. The elections will not be held on party symbols, and Mann stressed that the Sarpanch should represent the village, not any political party. He announced that villages electing a Sarpanch through consensus will receive a reward of ₹5 lakh, along with grants for a stadium, school, and Mohalla Clinic. He advised against spending large sums on elections, warning against investing ₹40 lakh with hopes of recovering ₹80 lakh.
Healthcare Expansion Across Punjab
At the state-level event, Mann highlighted that approximately 28 youth from Chouke village have already secured government jobs. So far, the Punjab government has opened 842 Aam Aadmi Clinics across the state, with 312 in urban areas and 530 in rural regions. These clinics provide free medical care and medicines, furthering the government’s commitment to affordable healthcare for all.
