Punjab News: Rail Services Disrupted as Dense Fog Forces Cancellation of 22 Trains in Northern Region

In response to adverse weather conditions, particularly dense fog enveloping the entire region, the Railways has implemented precautionary measures, resulting in the cancellation of 22 trains. The Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Shubham Kumar, confirmed the cancellations and noted that schedule alterations for a few other trains were also necessitated due to ongoing maintenance works.

List of Cancelled Trains:

  1. Sahrasa-Amritsar Jan Sewa Express (14617 and 14618)
  2. Amritsar-Chandigarh Special Express (12241 and 12242)
  3. Rishikesh-Jammu Yog Nagari Rishikesh Express (14605 and 16606)
  4. Amritsar-Lalkuan Express (14615 and 14616)
  5. Amritsar-Jaynagar Shaheed Express (14673 and 14674)
  6. Ajmer-Amritsar Express (19611 and 19614)
  7. Amritsar-Tatanagar Jallianwala Bagh Express (18103 and 18014)
  8. Amritsar-Jaynagar Clone Special (04651 and 04652)
  9. Ferozepur-Chandigarh Satluj Express (14629 and 14630)
  10. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Express (14503 and 14504)
  11. Amritsar-Nangaldam Express (14505 and 14506)

Partial Cancellations and Frequency Reduction:

  1. New Delhi-Jalandhar Express (14681 and 14682) – Partially Cancelled
  2. Agra Cantt-Hoshiarpur Express (11905 and 11906) – Reduced Frequency

Additional Cancellations Due to Interlocking Work:

  1. Ferozepur-Fazilka DMU (06987)
  2. Fazilka-Ferozepur Cantt DMU (04628)

Temporary Disruptions and Rescheduling:

Ongoing interlocking work at Guruharsahai yard in the Ferozepur-Fazilka section has led to temporary cancellations, short terminations, and rescheduling of trains. Ambala-Dhuri Special JCO (04531) has been canceled until January 16, while Sriganganagar-Ambala Special JCO (14735) will be short-terminated at Bhatinda. Consequently, Ambala-Sriganganagar Special JCO (14736) will short originate from Bhatinda, and Bhatinda-Ambala JCO (04548) will be short-terminated at Dhuri. The Mumbai-Amritsar Express JCO (11057) will be diverted to run via Ambala-Rajpura-Sanehwal.

Impact on Commuters:

The disruptions have inconvenienced commuters, with some expressing difficulties in travel plans. Amit Singla, a resident of Ferozepur, highlighted the challenges of visiting Chandigarh due to cancellations, emphasizing the need for improved weather conditions to restore regular rail services.
