Railway Updates: Cabinet approves new rail line in Rajasthan and Gujarat at Rs 2,798.16 crore

Railway Updates: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the building of the new train line between Taranga Hill and Ambaji and Abu Road, with an estimated cost of Rs 2,798.16 crore.

According to a formal announcement, the new train line would have a total length of 116.65 kilometres, and construction is expected to be finished in 2026 or 2027. The alignment of the proposed doubling will traverse through Sirohi district of Rajasthan and Banaskantha and Mahesana districts of Gujarat and will also provide an alternative route for the existing Ahmedabad-Abu Road railway line. During construction, it is predicted that the project will create roughly 40 lakh mandays of direct employment.

These railway updates can be considered as biggest of all the times because this train line is anticipated to improve accessibility to Ambaji, a well-known and significant pilgrimage site that is one of India’s 51 Shaktipeeths. Every year, worshippers travel to the location from Gujarat as well as other regions of the nation and beyond.

“These millions of devotees will be able to travel easily thanks to the completion of this route. Additionally, the visitors to Taranga Hill’s Ajitnath Jain temple, one of the 24 holy Jain Tirthankaras, will gain a lot from this connectivity, according to the statement.

Additionally, this line is anticipated to speed up the transportation of agricultural and regional goods and to improve local residents’ access to other parts of the country as well as to Gujarat and Rajasthan. Additionally, it will give the existing Ahmedabad-Abu Road railway line an alternate path.

According to the release, “the alignment of the proposed doubling will go through the districts of Sirohi in Rajasthan and Banaskantha and Mahesana in Gujarat.”
