Rajasthan News: — In a move to address recent controversies, Rajasthan’s Education Minister Madan Dilawar has issued a clarification regarding the use of mobile phones in government schools. This follows the initial announcement that sparked significant opposition from teachers’ unions across the state.
Minister Dilawar had previously declared that mobile phones would be entirely banned in government schools, stating, “Teachers are spending the whole day on mobile phones, watching the stock market and various other things. Therefore, mobile phones will be completely banned in government schools.” As a result, starting from July 1, a ban was implemented on teachers carrying mobile phones into school premises.

However, in response to the widespread backlash from educators, the Education Department has now revised the policy. According to the new guidelines, teachers will be allowed to bring their mobile phones to school, but they must keep them switched off during class hours.
The minister believes that this change will help teachers focus more on teaching rather than repeatedly checking their phones
The minister believes that this change will help teachers focus more on teaching rather than repeatedly checking their phones. In his statement, Minister Dilawar emphasized, “The Education Department is striving to enforce previous orders and improve the school environment. We are also making efforts to ensure that no teacher leaves the school under the pretext of prayer or other excuses.”
Under the revised guidelines, teachers are still expected to adhere strictly to the policy. If a teacher inadvertently brings a mobile phone to class, they are required to deposit it with the school principal.
The move aims to strike a balance between the necessary use of mobile phones for emergency purposes and the need to maintain an environment conducive to learning. The Education Department hopes that these measures will enhance the focus on education and prevent unnecessary distractions during school hours.
This clarification from the Education Department comes as a relief to many teachers, who had expressed concerns about the practicality and implications of an outright ban. By allowing mobile phones on the premises but regulating their use, the department seeks to foster a more disciplined and focused educational setting.
