Ram reveals its futuristic electric truck’s name, to compete with Silverado EV and Ford lightning

Ram: It wasn’t quite known what the name of Ram’s electric vehicle would be until recently, and the truck is scheduled to make its debut in less than a week. It may use the term Ram 1500 REV, according to a recent trademark application made with the USPTO.

All about Ram 1500 REV

The much-anticipated electric vehicle from Ram, representing the “future of Ram Trucks,” will be unveiled on January 5.

Ram Revolution, as the manufacturer has called the electric Ram 1500, was widely assumed to be the name for the vehicle, but it appears it was only the tagline for its marketing campaign.

Ram 1500 REV was given a trademark by FCA US LLC (previously Chrysler Group) on December 20, 2022, for “land vehicles, specifically, passenger trucks.”

The REV might stand in contrast to the conventional EV or BEV model ending as a testimony to its Ram Revolution. On the other side, it might also point to a model with a “range extender.” You can tell where Ram is going with this, even though a trademark isn’t a given.

Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, teased a design for an all-electric Ram 1500 pickup that will debut in 2024 in March. Ram’s initial EV pickup received good marks from Tavares, who stated: According to our internal performance index, our Ram 1500 will outperform all competitors on the attributes customers care most about: range, towing, payload, charge time. Really thrilling! It’s built on top of our new STLA frame architecture, designed specifically for full-size electric vehicles. Make no doubt, we will bring the best electric truck to the full-size segment. And Ram will continue delivering fully electrified solutions in the majority of its segments by 2025 and a full portfolio of electrified solutions for all of its segments no later than 2030.

What we know so far

That’s a rather bold claim considering the Rivian R1T and the Ford F-150 Lightning, both of which will be fierce rivals to the electric Ram 1500. Additionally, it will face competition from other EV pickups as they become available, like the Chevy Silverado EV, Tesla Cybertruck, and others.

The CEO stated that range projections are between 300 and 350 miles, despite the fact that Ram is keeping most of the specifications a secret until its release the following week. The Rivian R1T has a maximum range of 328 whereas the Lightning has an estimated EPA range of up to 320.
