Russia Ukraine War Day 73

It has now been 73 days since the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. The war that broke out between the two countries has not yet ended. Several rounds of talks have been held for peace talks between the two, but no concrete result has come out of it. Fighting in the city of Mariupol, devastated by the Russian attack, is causing frustration for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

There is speculation that he wants to end the Battle of Mariupol as soon as possible so that he can present the gift of victory to the Russian people on the occasion of Victory Day celebrated on Monday.

Britain’s military believes Russia wants to take control of the Ukrainian port city of Mariupol and its steel plant ahead of its Victory Day.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his video address to the nation referred to the acute shortage of medicines and medical facilities in parts of the country that are under Russian control.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called on the world to unite and end the war in Ukraine. He called the Ukraine war foolish, cruel and causing unlimited harm to the world.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the Russian military has fired 2,014 missiles over Ukraine during the war, while 2,682 incidents of Russian fighter jets flying over Ukrainian airspace have been recorded.

The UK will donate an additional 287 mobile generators to Ukraine.
These generators, with enough power to supply about 8,000 homes, will be used for hospitals, shelters and other vital services. Earlier, Britain had donated 569 generators to Ukraine.

On Friday, 50 more civilians, including 11 children, who were hiding in tunnels at a steel plant besieged by the Russian military in Mariupol, were rescued. While there, fighters hiding in the vast complex are fighting to prevent Moscow’s complete capture of the strategic port city.

Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Irina Vereshchuk confirmed that 50 women, children and the elderly managed to leave the sprawling compound, and she and the Russian agency said rescue efforts would continue on Saturday.

According to recent estimates by Russia, there are about 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers in the tunnels of the Ajovastal steel plant and they are repeatedly refusing to surrender.

The Russian government’s agency, the Russian Interdepartmental Humanitarian Response Center, issued a statement saying that 11 children were among the 50 rescued from the Ajovastal steel plant and were handed over to representatives of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
