Salman Khan Birthday: What Was Bhaijaan’s Last CLEAN HIT At The Box Office? Will Battle Of Galwan Finally Revive His Lost Glory?

Salman Khan at 60 faces questions over his last clean hit as recent films struggle. Can Battle of Galwan revive his box office glory?

Salman Khan turns 60 today (December 27, 2025). For fans, it is a moment of celebration. For the film industry, it has sparked a bigger question. Does Salman still have the box office magic he once ruled with ease?

Well, Salman Khan has defined MASS CINEMA for decades. His films opened big and festivals belonged to him. But in recent years, the box office story has changed. As he celebrates his milestone birthday, fans are once again looking back – and forward.

When Did Salman Khan Deliver His Last Clean Hit?

Salman Khan’s last undisputed Clean HIT was Tiger Zinda Hai in 2017. The film did more than just earn big numbers. It delivered solid profits despite its scale. With over Rs 339 crore nett collection in India and a strong return on investment, it remains his last film to tick all the right boxes.

Later releases like Bharat and Tiger 3 earned impressive gross figures. However, their massive budgets reduced overall profitability. As a result, they were labelled semi-hits or average performers. For many in the trade, Tiger Zinda Hai still stands as the benchmark.

Salman Khan’s Tough Phase At The Box Office

The year 2025 proved especially challenging. Salman’s Eid release Sikandar opened well on Day 1 with around Rs 29 crore. But the momentum did not last. Negative word of mouth and weak reviews hurt its run.

The film ended up collecting around Rs 110.36 crore net against a reported budget of Rs 200 crore. It was declared a box office disaster. This further raised doubts about Salman’s pull in non-franchise, mass entertainers.

Why Battle of Galwan Could Change Everything for Salman Khan

All eyes are now on Battle of Galwan, directed by Apoorva Lakhia. The film is based on the real-life 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese troops. Salman Khan plays a senior army officer, reportedly inspired by Colonel Santosh Babu.

Unlike his recent films, this project is rooted in realism. It focuses on grit, sacrifice, and patriotism. There is no larger-than-life swagger here. Industry insiders believe this shift could work strongly in his favour.

The confidence around the film is already visible. Its digital and satellite rights have reportedly fetched a massive Rs 325 crore deal with Jio Studios.

Can Salman Khan’s Battle of Galwan Bring Back The Glory?

Salman has also undergone a visible physical transformation for the role. He shot in Ladakh’s harsh conditions to bring authenticity on screen. This dedication signals a serious attempt to reconnect with audiences.

Trade experts feel Battle of Galwan could be a dark horse of 2026. If the content clicks, it could challenge the Rs 500 crore nett mark. The teaser of this Indo-China war film is expected to drop online today as Salman’s return girft to fans on his 60th birthday.
