Shravan Rathod Of Music Composer Duo Nadeem-Shravan Dies Of COVID-19

Composer Shravan Rathod, of popular music director duo Nadeem-Shravan, passed away on Thursday evening in Mumbai. He was 66.

Shravan was admitted to a city hospital in a ‘critical’ condition after testing positive for COVID-19, his son, musician Sanjeev Rathod had confirmed on Monday. He was under observation at SL Raheja hospital.

"He passed away around 10:15 PM tonight. Please pray for his soul," his son, musician Sanjeev Rathod, told PTI.

He had tested Covid-19 positive and was admitted to a city hospital in Mumbai after serious complications. Sanjeev had informed that the veteran composer was 'critical'.

"He had tested positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to SL Raheja hospital in Mahim. He is extremely critical right now. He has other comorbidities also. Doctors have said they would keep him under observation for the next 24 hours. Please pray for his recovery," Sanjeev Rathod had said.

Nadeem-Shravan composed super hit music in Bollywood during the 90s golden era. From Aashiqui, Saajan, Parde to Raja Hindustani - the duo made some classics. Post their split, Nadeem and Shravan collaborated one more time for David Dhawan's Do Knot Disturb in 2009.

Singer Sheray Ghoshal wrote on Twitter, "Shocked to hear the news of Shravan ji (of Nadeem Shravan) passing away. A genuine humble human being and one of the biggest composers of our music industry. Another huge loss in this pandemic. God give strength to the bereaved family. Rest in peace."

Filmmaker Kunal Kohli tweeted, "Sad to hear about the passing away of #Shravan ji of #NadeemShravan due to #covid. A glorious chapter of Hindi film music comes to an end. They defined the music of the 90’s. prayers with the family."

Akshay Kumar, who had been featured in many songs composed by Nadeem-Shravan, took to social media to remember the late composer. He wrote, "Very sad to know about the passing of music composer Shravan. Nadeem-Shravan created magic for many films in 90s and later, including Dhadkan that has remained legendary in my career. Deepest Condolences to his family (sic)."

“Shravan bhai is no more. My respects and condolences to his family. Nadeem-Shravan have given us some of the biggest hits in the 90s. COVID-19 has taken so many lives. Don’t know when will this end Really saddened by this news (sic),” Salim Merchant paid a heartfelt tribute.
