Sonia Gandhi summoned by ED

Sonia Gandhi summoned by ED: Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned Congress President Sonia Gandhi for two hours in the National Herald Money Laundering Case and the interrogation session was terminated on Gandhi’s request because She is recovering from Covid-19. 75-year-old Sonia Gandhi at A.P.J. in central Delhi in the afternoon amid ‘Z+’ security cordon. Abdul Kalam had reached the headquarters of the Central Investigation Agency located in Vidyut Lane on the road.

Sources said that the questioning started around 12.30 pm after completion of some formalities like verification of summons and signing of attendance register. According to sources, she requested to leave citing health reasons, which was accepted.

This investigation is related to the alleged financial irregularities in the company ‘Young Indian Private Limited’ belonging to Congress. The company ‘Young Indian Private Limited’ owns the National Herald newspaper.

Significantly, the Congress on Thursday took out a huge rally in many places including Hyderabad in protest against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioning Sonia Gandhi in the National Herald case.

Telangana Congress President A. Revanth Reddy led the rally from the Indira Gandhi statue on Necklace Road to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regional office in Basheerbagh.

Congress leaders and workers later sat on a dharna near the ED office. Congress workers alleged that Sonia Gandhi is being implicated in a false case by the Narendra Modi government, which they are protesting to condemn.

Congress leaders condemned the political vendetta carried out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah against their party’s top leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. On the other hand, Youth Congress workers stopped many trains at Delhi’s Shivaji Bridge railway station against ED in Delhi. After this, heavy police force was deployed at the railway station. Hundreds of youth activists lodged their protest sitting on the track.

On the other hand, Delhi Police detained senior Congress leaders sitting on a dharna
outside the Congress headquarters. Congress is expressing displeasure against the action being taken against the ED.
