World Athletics Championship: After a brilliant performance in the last installment of the World Athletics Championship, the Indian athletes will finally reap the benefits. As the 2023 Athletics Championship is around the corner, there is good news for all participating athletes.

Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will be funding the participation of the Indian contingent in the upcoming championship. The championship will feature the best athletes from all over the globe and be fierce competition.

India achieved their best-ever finish in this championship last year when six athletes reached finals, and Neeral Chopra returned with that historic silver medal. Three athletes also made it to the top 8 of the competitions.

A Huge Contingent

India will send a 42-member contingent which will involve 28 athletes. Of these, 15 athletes will compete on the world stage for the first time in their careers. 13 are from the Target Olympic Scheme.

Shaili Singh is the youngest member of the contingent, only 19 years old. She is also former U20 World Athletics Championships silver medalist, and there are lots of expectations from her.

Huge Funding By The Ministry

The funding from the Sports Ministry will cover the costs of the team’s training, boarding, airfare, and all other expenses. The ministry will also cover the expenses of the coaching staff. The World Athletics Championship will be held in Hungary from August 19.
